i go etsogo
soon to be indispensable again will be my "i go pogo" presidential campaign button, but, until then, consider my slogan "i go etsogo", and say hi to janet when you get there.
etsogo on merrimack street in downtown lowell fuses malaysian, thai, mandarin and other mainland asian influences into their regular menu, but it's at the sushi bar you will always find me (when i'm not taking it out) and it's at the sushi bar where the restaurant truly stands out. if you haven't already heard me going on like a rapturist about their dynamite "dynamite" appetizer (which is not available for takeout, so plan to dine in) let me re-start the rhapsody. i like to believe it's the ingredients that make the sushi meal as much as the chef, and etsogo's location mere miles from the freshest and best seafood on the planet (stellwagen bank forever) gives it a supreme and sublime head start over most places. but there has to be something about daniel and the crew, because their signature rolls and other seafood concoctions are deserving of comparison to any i've had most anywhere, and the combination is remarkable.
best of all, it's mere steps away in beautiful downtown shangri-lowell, and you won't find a more personable, memorable or welcoming hostess for a meal than the beautiful woman everyone downtown knows as simply "janet". she'll remember you, too, and that's just more of the magic.
if they had more tvs with hockey on them, i'd be there again in 3 hours.

I love how many of our DTL proprietors strive to memorize names. Etsogo is one of those places that I'm in maybe once a month, and Janet always says hello. Same over at Tutto Bene, etc.
